Strong Electronic Correlations: from Cuprates to Graphene

Effects of electron interactions in different materials, including superconducting oxides and transition metal impurity on Graphene will be introduced. Modern density functional theory describes well the ground state properties of such complex materials but not the electronic excitations which have been observed in the different photoemission experiments. We introduce a simple dynamical mean field theory which allowed to describe the correlation effects. Prospects of a realistic theory of the Mott metal-insulator transition in complex oxides will be discussed.
