Wide-bandgap II-VI materials and devices: II-VI compound semiconductors are very attractive materials in field of optoelectronics. Wide bandgap II-VI compounds have very high efficiency in light emission in the region from UV to visible light. We can expect highly efficient light-emitters. In another point of view, II-VI compounds are possible to absorb light efficiently. This ability is good for solar cells and photocatalysts. Basic properties of wide bandgap II-VI compounds and their device applications will be shown in this presentation.
